What are Klik & Play, Click & Create, The Games Factory, and Multimedia Fusion anyway?

These are easy-to-use programs for making games and other multimedia products. They have easy-to-use drag and drop user interfaces but give you the power to make quality programs or games. They are all created by ClickTeam, but have been sold by other publishers.

Klik & Play (KnP) was first and was made for Kids and other people who wanted to make games. It was sold for only about $50 when it came out and gave you quite a bit of power. Its main limitation is that it does not let you make scrolling games. It also does not allow you to sell the games you make. You can order it from the ClickTeam web page for just $9.

Next came Click & Create (CnC) which was made more for companies. It costs a lot more than KnP does but allows you to sell your products. It allows you to make scrolling games too. It also allows you to make applications and screen savers.This is still a really great program. This product has now been renamed Multimedia Fusion Express. You can order it from the ClickTeam web site.

Then The Games Factory (TGF) came which was very much like Click & Create. It, however, was aimed for Kids and people making games out of their homes. It does not allow you to sell your games and is less expensive than CnC. It has slightly less power than CnC but gives you everything you need to make games. This as well is a very nice program. You can order this product at the Europres web site or download a demo at the Europress download site. Update: ClickTeam has improved this program so that it is now as powerful as Click & Create. If you get the Pro version you can even sell the games that you make with it. You can order it from ClickTeam.

Now we have Multimedia Fusion which is very similar to Click & Create but has many new features. The interface has been redone so that it looks a lot like a Corel product. It has some really nice new features like an Active X object, Sub-Apps (the ability to make a little window running inside of another), and a lot more. It also fixes many of the problems Click & Create had. For instance you can now make as large of a scrolling area as you want. Multimedia Fusion allows you to sell your games which increases the price of the program. You can order Multimedia Fusion from ClickTeam.
